Dialog container elements missing

Our office has upgraded from XP to Win7 and after ironing out most of the problems, one curious issue remains. When a user clicks on "Change Attributes", an empty dialogbox shows up. Can anybody shed some light on this for us?

  • What does it mean in detail : upgraded from xp to win7?

What are the detailed computer specs (graphic card vendor and latest driver)?

  • Hi,

Could you please mention what version of Microstation are you using and if you got any error message during installation?

  • I did review this link but it didn't bring the solution I had hoped for.

I have had a closer look at the dgnlibs used in each profile. The MAIN.dgnlib loads the sitewide settings and the PERSONAL.dgnlib is where a user can change his or her GUI as needed. I notice that the "Change Attributes" tool works perfectly when I open the MAIN.dgnlib for editing and the same tool works just as well when I open the PERSONAL.dgnlib. When they are loaded together, the "Change Attributes" tool doesn't work and I get the error message Dialogbox Type "Togglebutton", ID - 59 in Dialog "Change Attributes" can not be loaded".

The MAIN.dgnlib is loaded through the PCF and the PERSONAL.dgnlib is loaded through the UCF.

I have noticed another strange phenomenon with regards to the empty dialogbox. Although the Microstation installation is in German, the broken dialogbox is in english (see image at top of post)

  • Hi,

You did not mention yet what other issues (now fixed) you had after installing MicroStation.

This could help us to understand your problem.

Could you please verify if MicroStation SS3 in English and German are installed in the same computer? Please verify this from Control Panel\Programs and Features.

If just German version is installed maybe the workspaces have been mixed (old workspaces in English) and this causes the issue.

    Regards

    Maria

  • FWIW:

The icon in the corner of the dialog shown in the first post looks rather dated (i.e. Pre-V8i SS3), even though in a later post it mentions installation of the latest version of MicroStation SS3.

When I pick the Change Attributes command in SS3 the dialog used is the Tool Setting dialog, which has a "wrench" icon in the corner.

  • Thanks for pointing that out Ron. It has brought me a step closer to solving the riddle. I work with an english version all day and it's possible that a part of my english workspace found it's way into the German workspaces that I manage for another office. I'm going to dump the old dgnlibs and create new ones. That will do the trick I hope.

  • I have found the solution to my problem. The latest version of Microstation SS3 installs a directory called GUI in the Workspace/System directory and is of course missing in the original office Workspace directory. All you have to do is locate the installation directory on your local harddrive, copy the GUI directory to the office Workspace/System directory and problem solved!
