Looking for a solution to define selection set isolating shapes and complex shapes by fill color. The shapes are on one level with one object color but with different fill colors. The fill colors define the segregation needed but would prefer to segregate ByLevel or even ByColor. Providing more flexibility in display toggles and portability.
use atributes to select your color and then either create groups or display sets

Hi Joseph,
Currently this functionality is not available in default delivered MicroStation.
It is possible to submit a Change Request to development for the change you desire.
We request that you reply to the below questions to the best of your ability. While it is not required to respond to
these questions, the more information you are able to provide, the better our development team is able to understand
the need for the change and exactly what it means to you and your business.
ď‚· What exactly are you attempting to achieve?
ď‚· Why is this change needed?
ď‚· How are you currently working without this change?
ď‚· How will this improve your workflow?
ď‚· Are you able to provide an example/sample file that provide additional details, if so please attach it to the email with your replies?

I think it can be done in vba but I'm a beginner when it comes to vba coding... but I remember doing an example that selected the object type and colour.... so there must be a item for fill colour...

I am not sure whether this covers exactly what you require but I have located Change Request # 345451 (TFS # 85302).
"User wants to have an option in Element Selection Tool to be able to select quickly a large number of closed elements (e.g. shapes, ellipses) by their fill type (none, opaque or outlined)."
If you raise a Service Request with the online Service Request Manager we can link you with this enhancement request.

Otherwise, we could raise a new Change Request if this does not meet your requirements.
