First Off, I am an 18-year AutoCAD user who is working for a company switching to Microstation. I am doing well and am ahead of over 80 others in my office making this transition - but finally assemblying a drawing for printing in Microstation V8i is causing me some frustration.
I have (2) files:
1. Base File (File "A"). This is where all the real field items are drawn in a 3D model.
2. Drawing File (File "B") This is where the File A is referenced into, annotations are added and a sheet view with the Annotation Model referenced in is created for printing.
I have referenced File A into (2) different 3D Design Models (File B contains (2) Design Models) - "i" is Model 1, which is a plan view. "ii" is Model 2, which is used for creating sectional views) separately with (2) different Logical Names into File B.
Saved Views from Model "i" and Model "ii" are referenced into Sheet View of File B. Each saved view has a different display set of Levels.
The problem I am having is even though Levels are correctly displayed in the Design Models' Saved Views, they are not displaying correctly in the referenced views on the Sheet Model.
Just as a note for anyone who may ask - I work for a company that because of the work and Federal Law, I can not upload any views or working files for reference. But, I have attached a sheet showing the concept I am working with that is causing Level Display issues
Hopefully you can follow my outline here. I appreciate any help you may be able to offer.
I would have to ask - since you are coming from an ACAD background - are you using global display ? or view display ?
Where are you attempting to control the levels ? in the sheet file ? or in the drawing file ? or the base file ?

I was using View Display, but it doesn't seem to effect the display of Levels no matter which view I use. But, I did notice that when in View Display, Levels within the Saved View through a Referenced Saved View - Levels do not seem to be eligible for modification.
I controlled the displayed Levels through the Saved View within Models "i" and "ii" which were then Referenced into the sheet as Saved Views. However, those Saved View Level Settings do not seem to translate through to the Reference of that Saved View.
When you state that the "Levels do not seem to be eligible for modification", what exactly do you mean? Are they not there? or Are they there but you cannot select them because they are possibly grayed out?
ok can you make a junk file with a 3d box and do the same work flow with a couple fake levels and do what is giving you problems then upload that .. its not real data its dummy data not working files but we can see the work flow and what is happening to you may not happen here so it could just be settings or variables,,
