Hello,
I am new to Microstation V8i SS2.
I am trying to compile a standards reference of all fonts and text styles used in a particular seed file. I want to export a list of fonts and text styles but do not see a way to export them. Is it possible to export fonts and text styles to a *.csv file or similar?
What you may need to understand with this query is the way MicroStation operates in relation to the fonts and text styles found within the workspace configuration settings. The seed file being used to create a new design file does not actually store information related to which fonts or text styles are being used in the MicroStation session. This is defined by the workspace and configuration variables.
Fonts:
There are three type of fonts that can be used in MicroStation.
RSC or Resource type fonts which are old type of Bentley fonts stored in RSC font files.
TTF or True Type Fonts which are Windows based fonts that are stored in Fonts folder of Windows.
SHX or AutoCad fonts of which the latest versions of MicroStation supply a number of standard fonts in the workspace fonts folder.
A list of these fonts that are available to use can be found in the pull-down font picker box in the Word Processor text editor. There is no specific ability to extract a list of all of these font types out to a CSV format fiile. Further information regarding how fonts operate in MicroStation can be found in the Help Documentation or the following BE Community Wiki's.

Text Styles:
These are are named sets of text attributes to define such things as the font, width, height, color etc. that can be selected when you place text in your design file. These can be stored in a central repository called Design Library or DGNLIB file with your workspace. Further information can be located in the Help Documentation.

A list of Text Styles available to use in your session of MicroStation can be found from the Text Styles dialog located under the Element menu. There are no capabilities available to extract a list of text styles located in your current workspace.

lookup dgnlib files as means of standardisation to create level libraries, text styles ( preset sizes and fonts)
dimension styles then set your workspace config to assign the path to your dgnlib files for you and all users so you all can use the same standards set by workpace if you need multistandards you can make more work spaces and change wich standard dgnlibs need to be used but get you company or office one worked out first...

Dgnlibs works well, especially if you know ustn-configuration.
But they are extremely secret of what is inside them. And if you point to one dgnlib - you'll get everything inside it. And it is easy to 'contaminate' a dgnlib with things you don't want in it - such as additional levels.
Either you stick to one dgnlib and put everything in than one and only. Or name them carefully and only put things you know and keep track of.
I stick to one. Not flexible, but I know where to look.
