In Microstation, how does one make text from "A" look like text in "B" in the attached image? (To stradle the dimline rather than sit above)
Thanks.
Try this:
Microstation SS3 08.11.09.714
ProStructures V8i SS8 v8.11.14.238
That works, to add the SU to the line below. But, if you want to modify dimension to say "TYP" or "CLR" or something to that effect, it doesn't work right.
In AutoCAD, you would type "\X" in the dim text editor to get it to pop a second line of text below the dimension line.
Is there something similar in Microstation Dim Text Editor?
Hello,
If you set up the Dimension Style with Secondary Units switched on as suggested and place the dimension, there will be a dimension value above and below the line. To have this display "TYP" below the line, select the Edit Text tool, click on the dimension below the line, enter TYP instead of the asterix and click in the view to accept. This should overwrite the secondary value and place the text you want below the line.
Regards,
Most of the time my users just place (TYP.) as plane text below the Dimension.
Would be nice in future to add the ability to prefix/suffix the * which could include a line feed. Or to place something other than the actual dimension *.
Note that when editing the secondary text below the dimension, you have to go out-of-my-way to change the justification to Center Center. It tended to be Rt./Lt. Ctr justification as in the dimension.
I Hope This Helps Someone Reading This! (Intergraph>PseudoStation>MicroStation user since 1980's)
I've found this:-
Dimension styles the advanced Tab> Symbols> Prefix. Unfortunatley you can only type in one character. But I suppose you may be able to do something with a cell - I'm not very knowledgeable on using cells though.
I'd imaging it would be easy [ish] for the folks at bentley to increase the character count for the prefix / Suffix??
