  • Oh, right, my mistake.  Thanks for setting me straight.

    Sorry Joaquin.

  • Hello jwingfield,

did anyone get a solution on this? I am running MS V8i SS10 and I'm having the same problem.

    Thank you,

    Armando

  • the only way I have been able to over come this  is to make the original cell without text , put an active point Non print level where the insertion point for text would be and  either have another cell with the text ( ie a number with  and active point and text placed at the active point ie the number 9 or 6  in your example  at the right size then  place the first cell rotated then place the second cell ( or plain text is easier)  at the active point then group the two in case you need to move them..

We then  could make a script to place the first cell by name and by rotated then just add place text  with level, weight color font and size..  but I think manual add text easier.. yes too bad the text independent view rotation is not an attribute for text in cells

  • I have created an IDEA this this as it isn't going anywhere.........  2014 this was posted . 9 years later.........

Place Cell with horizontal text | MicroStation Ideas Portal (aha.io)

  • I came up with a method that you may find useful.

    1. Create a Point Cell containing a single letter Enter Data Field
    2. Create a Graphic Cell with the symbol graphics, like the circle and a filled wedge shape in the example.
    3. Place the Point Cell from step 1 in the Graphic Cell

To use this new Graphic Cell:

    1. Place the Graphic Cell in your design.
    2. Select the cell
    3. In the Properties dialog expand the cell entry and highlight the Point Cell (in the example it's  Cell: EDF single )
    4. Under Geometry set the angle to zero.
    5. Deselect the cell.
    6. To change the character in the cell use the Fill in single Enter Data Field tool.

This video shows how it works:

Here the example cell I used in the video:
