Is there a way to set pattern angle by selecting an element or by 2 points.
I'm not sure whether this is going to help but keyin to define the pattern angle is PA= or ACTIVE PATTERN ANGLE. This can be used outside of the Pattern Area tool but I cannot see any need to do this outside of the tool as it only allows a value to be entered. A quick search did not seem to locate any Enhancement Requests for this capability. You might like to request this via a new Service Request.

The following thread also has some additional suggestions on retrieving and setting the active angle ( Not pattern angle ), which may be of help in at least obtaining the angle for pasting into the patterning tool settings or using the PA=<angle> keyin.

You can use the match pattern to match the pattern angle.
I know about (Pa=) and I tried the match pattern angle to a element and that does not work in ss2. That only works with existing patterns. I want to set my pattern angle by an element that is not a pattern

Can you use the new Element Information dialog to find the angle reported within for the element and then copy and paste that into the pattern tool settings?

M Wlong I could but that defeat the propose of a quick on click. I can use set by 2 points and then type in the angle.
I'm lazy. I'm actually surprised that this is not a feature in the pattern dialog
Time for a CR to be filed. I know, it will still take a loooooooong time to get it implemented.
I was hoping some one may have a marco or vba for this 1
keyin active angle pt2 ( this is to workout Active angle from object by 2 points)
so you could then make your macro to set the active angle from element via the elect element prompt then use the active angle pt2 , then get the angle and put it into PA=AA then commands to select pattern and place pattern sounds easy but you'll have make it your self.. I always use the record to work out most of the commands..
then build it from scratch...
