I am trying to edit text that has a different width then the height. 4.5 and 5. When I use the edit text dialog box and select the text it transposes the height and width. If I select it again it transposes again. In fact watching the Edit text dialog box while moving the mouse I see the height and width cycle between the 2 different values placed in there. I put in 8 and 10 and it will cycle between the 2 values. Has anyone else seen this? I am using 8.11.09.578.
I have that version and have not seen this. Are you using AccuDraw, Position Mapping or have the Keyin Browser docked?
There is a Home that the cursor will go to by default but it depends on what you have turned on. Seems your Home position is the Tool Settings dialog. It could be the Key-in Browser or the Position mapping if that's on. It also changes if you have the Workspace > Preferences Default Tool set to None/Selection or under the Input area to Allow ESC key to stop current command.

I am watching the text physically change in height and width each time a select the text element to edit. Keyin browser isn't open, Workspace is default. Accudraw is open and docked. I don't understand how any of these settings would change the values within the edit text dialog box to change.
Notice the height and width is 4.5 and 5
After selecting the text element it's reporting 5 and 4.5
When I place the element it resizes the text
Selecting the same element and the height/width reverts back to the original 4.5 and 5
Selecting the same element over and over and the text will be wider then taller and then wider. It is repeatable in a different file. I have also rebooted.
ok first try this use the match text to to set the text settings to what they should be default to..also see what the justification is set too...
Next when you set the edit text try changing it to apply all to all text changes and set the padlock on and then edit your text...
personally I prefer Height & Width to be the same and just use Arial Narrow... I think at one time there may not have been true type Arial Narrow availqble in windows fonts hence the wide spread use in old drawings of 5 : 4, H to W in text for Arial..
I have globally changed all our plans to Arial Narrow TT and set it in our cad standards as the prefered font windows TT.

The padlock locks height to width and makes them the same value. If I am trying to edit text with a different height to width that would defeat the purpose. All I am trying to do is edit text in a standard form. I don't want it justified differently. I don't want to change the style. All I want to do is change the text from a 1 to a 2. As it works now, it is broken.
I have version 08.11.09.674 and I see the same problem. Beebe Ray at Bentley confirmed that he can repeat the problem. I've been unable to find a solution to this problem.
