Hi Guys
I am wondering if anyone has ever known of MicroStation to produce a duplicate copy of a UPF file and place it under the Bentley Workspace > Systems > Data folder?
MicroStation appears to use it and save settings only updates the UPF I have created and not the duplicated UPF.
However, whenever starting MicroStation this copy is created or updated if already there. If I delete it, the next time I open MicroStation, the application MicroStation opens within the second screen! Very strange behaviour. All CFG files, variables and so forth look good. I'm bamboozled as to what's going on...I've never noticed it before and the problem has existed for years, across all V8i versions, including SS3. I only spotted it by accident.
Thanks in adavnce.

Hi Lory
Thanks for the reply.
Below is a screenshot from the Global.cfg, its the only part that references the UCF fie.
I can replicate some of this behaviour (use the -debug=n switch to save time with loading MicroStation) in a totally clean install and the addition the following variable to the standards.cfg. The value doesn't matter, nor does the %level. As soon as the variable is included, the UPF is produced (or updated if existing), within the workspace>system>data folder. MS_USERPREF = $(USERNAME).upf
Defining the path in this variable overcomes this: MS_USERPREF = $(_USTN_HOMEPREFS)$(USERNAME).upf
