Windows 2003 SP1

Can you help me?

  • Rajendrakumar:

    Windows 2003 SP1

MicroStation/J was published several years before Windows Server 2003. I doubt that it's certified for that version of Windows.

As Jon mentions, MicroStation/J has not been officially certified for use on that OS. Further, the specific version of MicroStation/J that you reference was superseded by subsequent versions (even of MicroStation/J) -- see the History of MicroStation article on the wiki for more details (and to see what you are missing by not using current software).

That said, the "unable to start ditems.ma" message is fairly generic, but it could be related to a security setting for Data Execution Prevention (DEP) in Windows. In more recent Windows releases, that has been set with additional security to only allow authorized executables to run -- MicroStation/J is probably not one of them (since it was released before DEP security was a factor... yet another reason to look into getting a more current release of MicroStation). How you change that depends on the OS that you are using. There is some information in this article as well as this one that might be worth taking a look at if you have not already -- you may need to check with your system administrator(s) regarding that.
