When using mice with more than 3 butons, use the software that comes with it to configure the buttons. For example, I used to use Microsoft Explorer mice with 5 buttons. The driver that came with it allowed me to go into the control panel (under Mouse) and configure each of the buttons. For the extra 2 buttons, simply configure them as function keys. Then under "Workspace", "Function keys", assign an action to the function key.
