microstation noob here!
we have a dgn file that (all of a sudden) when is opened, does not display correctly when fit view - all is used, but displays correctly when fit view - reference is used. when fit view - all is used, the drawing does not fill the layout screen, but fit view - reference fills it out as expected.
this hasn't always been the case.
we have tried looking for rogue objects but have not found any.
microstation version is v8 08.09.03.57
i am sure it is something simple, but i have only just started as a support officer and haven't had microstation training as yet.
any help would be greatly appreciated. if you require more info, i can get it for you.
Check in the reference dialog that all the references have there 'Locate' tick boxes on/enabled.
thanks for the quick reply. can you step me through getting to the correct reference dialog box?
also, not sure whether this info is relevant, when the user goes into the model properties box and unticks the 'display sheet layout' tick box, the fit view - reference does NOT work like it does when the 'display sheet' layout' box is ticked.
Choose File->reference to get the dialog box
You see the list of attachments
to the far right, the default list view shows 3 tick boxes, make sure all three are ticked on.
Is the titleblock attached via the Models dialog box?
By the Fit View not working, does it not work when you zoom in and do a fit view it does not zoom out or does it zoom out so far you can not see anything? Is it in a regular model or just a sheet model? Does the file contain only references or are there elements in the model?
More information is needed to troubleshoot your problem.
If it zooms out so far that you can't see anything turn off 1 reference at a time and fit view after turning each reference off. If the fit view works at some point then you know if the problem is an element is the active file or a reference file. If it is in reference file you would go into that file and find the element and delete it. If it is in the active file you can place a fence around the area to keep and then go to Delete Fence Contents and set the mode to Void Clip. This should delete any graphical elements outside the fence.
By the way, make a back-up of your file before you start!
