I have new computer with 64bit Windows 7 installed and I'd like to install Microstation v8i on it. However I'm still receiving error 2738. I installed first pbda08110702en and then also tried pbda08110703en. This was succesfull. After that I tried to install MS version 08.11.07.58 and 08.11.07.115. Both with the same result - error 2738 - no better specification. I found one thread here http://communities.bentley.com/Products/MicroStation/MicroStation_V8i/f/19565/t/16902.aspx, but it's about Win Wista. But with the same problem - so I tried to register c:\Windows\System32\vbscript.dll using redsvr32.exe. Succesfully. Afterall the installation is still terminated with error 2738. Any idea how to install MS v8i ?
I have been running various versions of MS on Vista 64 bit and have just upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit (clean install)
I saw your thread and installed MS to see if I could receive the same error, but did not. MS installed with no errors.
1. I am an administrator on the machine. Are you installing as an administrator ?
2. I turn down UAC, so I only get a dialog when configuring my machine, so I only receive one UAC when installing
3. Where did you get the build of MS from ? I installed 08.11.07.150

MicroStation V8i 08.11.07.115 9/10/2009 is the current release candidate available to those of us who dwell in the outer regions.
I installed 08.11.07.150

yes - I have administration rights and install with it. I laso have vbscript.dll succesfully registered in system. I tried to turn UAC completelly down - but the problem is still the same. MS I got from selectservices.bentley.com. What else could I check ? I tried to contact Bentley support with the "service ticket", but they just recommended me to be administrator, register vbscript.dll and then finished.

try to register vbscript.dll not in C:\WINDOWS\system32\, but in C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\ folder, also with the command regsvr32.exe vbscript.dll and also of course as administrator. I have no personal experience with this error message at Windows 7 64bit (yet :-), but I found this notice about SysWOW64 folder in some articles.
For better understanding what is happening during the installation, you can start the installation with log enabled, a syntax is MSIEXEC /i filename.msi /lv LOG.TXT. Sometimes it can help a bit more where the problem is.
