Delete vertex and Break element tool modifications

Delete vertex tool will delete multiple vertices without the user being prompted about it.

Break elements tools (all) will removed vertices without the user being prompted about it.

Since these tools do not inform the user that other vertices will be removed with this tool, I suggest (a warning perhaps!) some sort of toggle on the tools or in the user pref that can turn this on/off. In the case that I need a bunch of points along a line, it is very frustrating that these frequently used tools will do this. I was thinking that there could also be something as simple as a 'Delete Single Vertex' OR 'Delete Multiple Vertices' once you activate the command(s).

My biggest concern is the warning of the user. I have been using Connect for some time now and I am just noticing this as a problem because clients are sending information back to me that needs 'fixing' when I know for a fact that I placed those extra vertices on that line(s) and did not remove them nor ask Connect to remove them. Now I am running through all the tools/online to find out what other surprises I might find like this.

  • There are reasons that some of us want to create & retain "extra" vertices. While I appreciate smart software, I do not want it to assume that it knows what I want - especially when it comes to removing/deleting items that I drew in on purpose.
I agree that these tools should have some sort of warning that all vertices will be deleted. Even better? If they defaulted to "old" behavior (leaving everything alone) and added an option for "new" behavior. Like an extra radio button/tool setting for "Delete Unused Vertices" that we would have to manually set.

  • Hi Daniel,

It would be helpful if you listed the changes are you suggesting for these tools?

Your statement only explains how the tools currently work in Connect Edition.
