I know that, by default, for legacy reasons, plain text, when placed as "View Independent" will rotate around the lower left-hand corner of the text element. This, however produces somewhat unpredictable and VERY unhelpful effects, as text appears to move from its placement location (depending on justification).
I don't know how to keep the people happy who like this behavior, but I know that I would like to see some option, setting or tool that would create View Independent text that stays in place and just rotates around either the justification point, or even just around the center of the element. Those would be more predictable, and make View Independent text more useful.
