Point placing Tools: Associativity

Points to Patterns

  1. Construct Points Between Data Points should keep a linear 'construction' profile with handles for later manipulation. The path profile should be hidden until the array is selected. When the two Data Points are placed using snaps (with the Association lock on) then the Points/Cells should react to any changes the parent / guiding geometry.
  2. Construct Active Points along Element / at Distance Along Element, Linear Pattern, Array Along Path, Populate Along Path/Area should have the option to be associatively linked to their guiding geometry.
  3. Construct Active Point (or Cell) at Intersection should have the option to be associatively linked to the intersecting elements. Now working with the Place Cell tool (with Association lock on) in CE, Bravo, guys! Please update CAPI?
  4. Rotation: If an ACS or other CS is specified, then there should be an option to link associatively to the guiding CS so that changes can be propagated, on demand/automatically.
  5. Trimming: Should be an option to associatively link a shape (grouped hole) or surface with both boundary and ‘hole’ trims, to trim the arrays… like the Pattern Area tool.
  6. Persistent snaps: This is working for the Place Cell tool in CE for Intersection, Keypoint, Nearest, Midpoint. Bravo, guys!
    1. Origin: Please note that this is a great way group Cells together. What would be good is the snap be bi-directional. At the moment, if the child Cell is moved, it loses its constraint and is displayed with dashed lines. The Properties Panel does help a little in that it allows the user to select the parent.
    2. Nearest: What would be good is if the Cell is constrained to the parent linear element, when the user tries to move the Cell.
    3. Perpendicular and Tangent: a prompt for the user to key in the Cell's X,Y,Z axis would allow these snaps to be used.
