To do this type of functionality would require using the replace cell tool.

Properties Panel+ Project Explorer: Replace Cell in Right Click Menu

Transfered from EAP Ideas list

The user should be able to select a Cell in the Properties Panel or Project Explorer, and access the Replace Cell tool. If the Cell is a Parametric Cell, the RC tool should retain the PC's user-assigned Variables.

  • Replace Cell tool does not recognise nested cells. If you are going to ignore this request, then I would add this functionality to Replace Cell.

    1. Create cell TEST01.

    2. Create another cell TEST02, with TEST01 nested.

    3. Create cell TEST03.

    4. Use Replace Cell tool on TEST02. It will only replace the top level cell (TEST02) and not offer the option to replace TEST01.

This kind of assembly:component modeling will be increasingly common. Mstn needs to adapt to keep up.
