Description
Overview is an MDL application that superimposes a rectangle in one view that is representative of the coordinate positions of another view. In a 3D file, the overview rectangle is displayed in the destination view at the active depth and rotation of the source view.
Once Overview is loaded, the commands OVERVIEW ON and OVERVIEW OFF are be used to turn the overview rectangle on and off. Symbology of the overview block can be set using the OVERVIEW ON or the OVERVIEW COLOR|WEIGHT|STYLE commands. Source and target views can be defined with the OVERVIEW ON command.
Installation Instructions
Overview.ma should be copied into the
..\mdlapps\
folder.
To load Overview
Key in:
MDL LOAD OVERVIEW
from the Key-in Browser
or
from Utilities > MDL Applications > Browse, select Overview
OVERVIEW ON
Opens a dialog box that sets the source view, destination views, and the color, weight and style of the overview rectangle. When "OK" is clicked, a rectangle is displayed in the destination view the size of the source view.
OVERVIEW ON may also contain the source and destination view on the command line.
Example: OVERVIEW ON 1 5 OVERVIEW OFF switches off the overview rectangle.

OVERVIEW COLOR <colorValue>
Allows the selection of the overview box's color from the command line. Valid colorValues are 0 to 255.
OVERVIEW STYLE <styleValue>
Allows the selection of the line style of the line displayed to show the overview box. Valid styleValues are 0 to 7
OVERVIEW WEIGHT <weightValue>
Allows the selection of the overview box's line weight from the command line. Valid weightValues are 0 to 31.
