border comment location

Using MS 8.5.2.59, I'm trying to set the border qualifiers in the plt file for username, filename and time.  We use pentable substitution as well WHEN we have a border attached to the plot, but many times users plot files with no border which still need username information for our internal routing.  The issue is that this border information only wants to plot on the bottom of the sheet.  Is there any way to have it plot on the lead or trail edge (binding strip area)?  Can I control where this information plots?  The only way I knew it was even plotting was because our roll was misaligned in the plotter and I could see the information plot on the lower edge which would typically be off the paper.  I also thought that in 2004 Edition, this information was supposed to plot just inside the border edge instead of outside.  Is that not true?

 Thanks,

Kristi

  • I opened my printer.plt file and copied this out for you.

; Remove this record if no border is desired.
; Refer to the documentation for available border qualifiers.
    border /time /filename /text_height=0.35

And from the help using border qualifiers for the search I got

    border/pen=1/comment=("User=${USER}")

defines a border and a comment that includes the configuration variable "USER," which would be expanded to its defined value in the printed output (such as "John Smith" as described above).

    border/pen=1/comment=("Model=${MS_PLTMODELNAME})

defines a border and a comment that includes the configuration variable "MS_PLTMODELNAME," which would be expanded to display the name of the model from which the print is produced.

This should get you on track to do what you want at least up to time date file name anyway..
