Hello All,
I am having an issue with a print driver. Microstation V8 2004 08.05.02.70. This is a Bentley driver modified to work with a HP5550 laser printer. THe driver had been working fine until recently. After loading the driver through the printer dialog box, when you click the printer icon an error is displayed by the message center that says "Error Opening Print File \\engdat1\3rdProd5550". If I comment out the line in the driver <default_outFile/auto_overwrite = \\engdat1\3rdProd5550 I can create a .plt file without a problem. If I switch that line to send to a different printer(default_outFile/auto_overwrite = "\\engdat1\3rdCopyRoom_9000" ) it works fine so I know it has something to do with the name of the printer and not the path. I am adding screenshots of the driver and the windows printer test page so you can see that the path and printer name match. Does anyone see something that I am missing???
Thanks to Ed Yepes from Bentley tech support for the soultion as follows:
I have seen this exact error message when trying to "copy" the file to the UNC path. The issue turned out to be a setting at the printer in windows at the server. To correct that problem we set the Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster, and checking "Start printing immediately" in the printer properties "Advanced" tab.
Your IT person should be able to check these settings for you.
Hope this helps someone else out there.
Mike
