Default PDF Colour Output

if you use a V8i product, i would recommend using a (copy of) pdf.pltcfg, not a .plt file as it offers more option.

In that file you can toggle the default output preference from Color to Monochrome.

(use the File>Edit Printer Driver configuration command, in the Print window, to make your changes).

Not sure this will work for me as I am using V8.05.02.35 :(

Visit some of the DOT sites - MD SHA in particular that some PDF PLT files that although named color, only plot a few color/gray pens and the rest are Black. The also load a default pen table that does a limited number of text substitutions and also do some shading and no plot levels, as I recall.

I also think you can toggle the color option to grayscale or monochrome in a PLT file - but that only "suggests" the color option, it does not force it. These PLT files will limit the colors to only the select few. To understand the full effect, you may also want to look at their color table.

One more thing - they use an include command in their PLT files that add additional settings. I don't recall the extension of the files - it might be SUB or SUP, but without these files, and the PLT, the full effect is not there. Basically, one PLT file can add to its function by including the contents of another. These allow shared settings to be saved in one location and by not naming them PLT, they cannot easily be loaded as PLT files by accident. One PLT might include multiple other files and multiple PLT might include the same files.
