We are using a document management system that uses acrobat distiller to auto generate PDF's when a drawing/document is issued. I am aware that you can create searchable PDF's with the pdf.plt but because I need to go through a document management system I need to setup the pscript.plt to create searchable PDF's too.
I have read somewhere that you can use font substitution in your pscript.plt file to generate searchable PDF's but I am unsure exactly how to go about this. All our drawings are using default Microstation fonts such as font30 and font 003. Can someone please explain exactly what I need to do in order to get our distiller to generate a searchable pdf from the microstation pscript.plt?
I figured out how to add a font substitution into the pscript.plt but how to I find a font that looks anything like the Font 3 or Font 30 supplied with Microstation? I only seem to be able to specify courier in the plt file and the pdf then doesn't really look like the original dgn. Are there settings I can put on the distiller that will resolve this for me? I have to supply searchable PDF's of all our drawings to the client :-S

OK I figured out how to substitute the font, the only problem now is finding a substitution that actually looks the same as font 3 and font 30 in Microstation.
OK maybe I haven't figured this out properly. The closest font I can find to match Microstation font 3 and 30 is a true type font called IntergraphISO.ttf, how do I put this is my pscript.plt file as it doesn't seem to recognise it, is there a way to embed this font into the file (PDF) so that people who do not have the font installed can still see it? This seems really complicated.
PostScript predates TrueType by many years. It works with PostScript fonts, such as Helvetica. Because Microsoft didn't want to pay royalties to the owner of Helvetica (Monotype Corporation), it invented its own TrueType font Arial. The same applies to a number of other designs, where a TrueType font closely resembles a PostScript font.
Not everybody uses TrueType, although it's dominant in the world of Windows. If you're using Adobe Acrobat Distiller then PostScript fonts are more useful. There's a huge number available: search the web.
