pltcfg - is there documentation somewhere for these?

First I'd like to say how much I don't like using pltcfg files and not the old text based plt files.  Whenever you use windows drivers for raster files, only bad things happen.

We are trying to plot a true 11x17 to an HP DJ4000 with a 17" roll on it but are having no luck what so ever.  It either cuts the borders off or makes a sheet that is 11.4x17.  In the pltcfg file Base Properties Tab and then the windows pull down there are a ton of settings and in the Advanced pull down but I have no idea what any of them do and of course there is no help on these.  The border we are trying to plot is 10.5x16 so the plotter should have no problems with it.

Anyone know where to find documentation on this or even a sample one?

  • We learned on an HP forum that you must configure your driver to be aware of the roll and size used - some drivers allow you to leave it unspecified. Doing so resulted in longer margins at the begining and end of the plot. Once we changed this, we were able to plot from Windows with identical results that the old PLT drivers used to create. This issue was also a problem if you tried using the Printer.PLT driver.

Interestingly, it was a fellow MicroStation CAD manager who offered that sollution on the HP forum. Thanks again Karl Sumwalt!!!
