.pltcfg question

I was able to tell it what size paper I want, whether to use True color or Gray scale, and quite a few other things.  What I want to know is can I have it tell the printer to use Black and white, or color.  By default, my printer is set up for black and white, and when I want to print in color, I pick my color.pltcfg file, but then need to go to my printer settings and toggle it from black and white to color.  Can the .pltcfg do this for me?

Thanks.

  • Kevin,

I suggest leaving your Printer settings set to produce color by default, then use the pltcfg to control the default color setting. In the pltcfg editor select the Base Properties tab and set the Default Color Mode to True Color in the color.pltcfg and set Monochrome in the black.pltcfg.

  • Unfortunately, this will not work for us.  We use color 208 to be a "screened back" shade.  It prints almost as a gray.  With monochrome it comes out as a black, and with the printer setting set as color but MS set to grayscale, it comes out as a blueish gray which does not reproduce well with our client's repro machine.  So, I will keep using it as set to B&W as deafault, and toggle the printer settings to color when I need to print to color.  Thanks, but if anyone knows how to have it manually do that, please post.
