Is there a way to add a Tag's value at the end of the file name via the pltcfg?
We want to batch plot live drawings during various stages of a project hence we want the plotted PDF files to include the drawing revision number at the end. e.g. 0001_R01.pdf, 0001_R02.pdf, 0001_R03.pdf etc
We're using a standard tag name but the tag values defer. Currently, we're adding the rev no manually but would be great if this can be done via the pltcfg.
FYI , we're using $(MS_PLTFILES)$(basename(_DGNFILE)) in the PLTCFG file
Why not make the drawing file name include your revision..
In my old company if I had to up rev a drawing I had to save as File name _old rev ie 4324_Rev5.dgn
into the superseded folder then rename the current to rev 4324_Rev6.dgn..that way the batch plot automatically has the current rev no. from the current job folder.....
An alternative would be to use adam lamberts cad pro title block manager to export the tag for the revision to excel which comes directly out of the drg sheet then use his macro to create the pdfs via excel combining the rev and file name to make a pdf of each file however I don't think it batch plots
... or now we have a listing of the files names with their tag values for the revs in an excel list we could use this to help rename the files a bit quicker via free program Bulk Rename Utility which is very much faster than manually changing a file name one at a time it can do bulk renaming by appending and incrementing all thro a grafic user interface preview screen dynamically has loads of features... then you can batch print the file wit their altered names.....
personally I like renaming a file during just before making changes to include the rev as part of my work flow....
