Need to use .ctb

I am working exclusively on AutoCAD files. I have been given a .ctb file to use when I create PDF files for upload but I have a couple of things I need some help with.

1, the ctb file makes real thick line weights and I'm wondering if there is something in the .ctb file that is making MY pdf lines so thick but keeps the AutoCAD peoples' lineweights thinner (nicer looking)

2, I got a comment (image) that says "PRINT 1:2 SCALE W/ PDC.CTB FILE" I don't know what that means. The middle image is from model properties from the dwg file I was sent to use as a template and right image is my print dialog box. I thought everything was set up when the SHEET model was used.

ANY HELP IS WELCOME!!

Thanks

  • The  first thing I can see is that you  have not attached their PDC.CTB  which is their  pent table this corrects line weights and colours click on pentale next to the  settings in the print dialogue and find the PDC.CTB this should then make the correct line weights also they want the  print at  1:2....

Ok  just  a couple of things that  come over from the acad world..

in ustn we usually  draw 1:1 and  enlarge our sheets to fit the drawing and  use the printer to scale down to paper..

acad use 1:1 paper size  like  a B1 at 1:2 and use view ports to scale the  design down to fit inside the view port  to print the paper at the stated paper size..

Acaders dont use line weights thay  print  by  colour which then tells the printer  what  weights to make the  lines ... in ustn we usually  draw what you see is what you get and use weights so a yellow line in ustn with weight 0 will print  thin and yellow but in acad they  make  it print black and  thickness 0.25mm like the old  drafting pens had coloured ring or  bands on them this then became the  pen numbers and  hence the colour numbers in acad are also the  pen numbers..

Another quirk particular to acad structural drafters is they draw for a  sheet size say A1 but always  print it  half scale to a3 which is normal widest sheet for a common office laser  then if the  client wants full size  prints they  pay for plotter prints...

Also the acad guys  have their ltscale set to suit  their plot sizes ie lt=0.5 you  could use overrides  to force this if  nothing else works
