I had to contact Bentley Support and I was given 2 Solutions
1) Edit the boot.ini file and increase the page file.
a) Edit the boot.ini file to include " /3g" at the end of of the line string as follows:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /3g
(if your not sure how see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022/en-us )
(there is a space before the " /3g")
b) Increase the page file size to 3-4 gig.
c) reboot
(this didn't work for me)
2) Either plot using v8 2004 or wait untill Microstation v8.11.xx is released towards the end of this year. This is an issue w/ XM that there seem to be no plans on fixing.
Solution 3 ?
using microstation + RoPlan and have/had the same problem plotting pdf files.
most solutions i found on the internet didnt work for me so i tried to find an other option.
option 3)
if your drawing contains many patterns, you can also try to change the scale of the patterns.
i had problems with patterns scale 1.0 so i changed the scale to 5.0and finally i was able to plot pdf files and such.
I guess my problem was somewhat different, but I was getting the exact same error message when I opened a file using the FDOT bar menu. Here's how I solved it. www.fanboysland.com/.../microstation-error-message-out-of-memory-swap-device-may-be-full
