Print Organizer - Errors with MS_LEVEL_AUTO_SYNC_ATTRIBUTE_LIST

Override symbology not printing as per the view of the opened file. When MS_LEVEL_AUTO_SYNC_ATTRIBUTE_LIST set to = OverrideSymbology viewing files  looks as per override symbology, however Print Organizer prints colors and line styles in a completely different manner.

  • Do you have the print attributes set properly in PO? You can have PO ignore the symbology overrides. Depending on how you have the selection boxes toggled you can have the attributes set to on/off or as set in the files. Check theses settings in your Print Defs.

  • I have symbology overrides turned on in PO which works fine. If I turn on 'MS_LEVEL_AUTO_SYNC_ATTRIBUTE_LIST = OverrideSymbology' for the project the printed material outputted by PO changes to abnormal colours / linestyles regardless of the symbology checkbox in PO.

Whereas a normal one off print [ctrl+p] will print fine using MS_LEVEL_AUTO_SYNC_ATTRIBUTE_LIST

Strange no? Could it be a bug, or am I missing a setting somewhere?

    Thanks in advance,
  • Are you opening the file in Microstation before trying to print through PO? I believe you would need to open the files in Microstation to allow the files to update then run them through PO. You may also need to go into the print definitions after that and on the Advanced Tab (I think) you would need to select the check box for "Update from Design File" to reprocess the files. I know you need to do this if you change the level states (on/off). Otherwise PO will not recognize the new settings.

  • Certain print workflows may depend on the design file being writeable. For a test, open the design file in read only mode and see if the symbology displays correct. If not, this explains why Print Organizer is not printing correct. If MS_PRINTORGANIZER_OPEN_DGN_READWRITE is set to 1, the Print Organizer background process opens design files in read-write mode. Or, in Print Organizer, select Edit > Preferences, and then uncheck “Open design files in read-only mode.

  • Read / write setting enabled and now works.

    Thanks for your help Todd.
