Printing White Text Over Mesh

Currently using MicroStation V8i SS3. Using the Geographic Tools in a separate file I imported an image from Google Earth that exists as a mesh element type. This file is then referenced into my sheet file to be shown as a background image, similar to using a rastered image.

The issue I am having is needing to print text as white in color. I have the text color set to 255 (BG) and where this was and still does work when I import a raster image I was previously using, the Google Earth mesh does not allow the text to print white whether I use color 255 or even switch it to 0. The text prints black in both scenarios.

As the raster images I have are outdated and of much poorer quality than the Google Earth image I would prefer to use that.

Is this an issue relating to having to use a Display Style of Smooth for the referenced file as opposed to the "from Parent" setting; the sheet file uses a Wireframe Display Style.

This also only seems to be an issue when I have text set to Color="By Level" and the Level Color is set to 255 in the Level Manager. If I set each item of text to Color=255 then the text prints white as intended.

Check if you have  unwittingly have an override set to 0 for that  level, its the default when you make new levels ... I hate that is the a default  and its  the source of a lot of wasted time through out the  microstation universe... it should be  no overides for new levels until I put one in...

is your file an old v7 converted to v8i?

can you make new file no overrides ref your raster and try again does it still create problems?

have you tried different  printer drivers and different  printers ie straight to pdf. have you tried mono print to see if 255 stays no ink?
