Creating PDF of sheet files with Google Earth Image Superimposed in the Reference File.

I am creating sheet files for road corridor with the Google Earth Image superimposed. I captured Google Earth image in the 3D file with correct coordinates and it came out good in my sheet files when referenced 3D file to base file I am using. Problem is- I cannot create PDF's for some of the sheets where as some sheets has no issue creating PDF's (However, it take about 6 to 8 mins to create one PDF). The ones that does not work gives me error message "could not load", could not find exception.log, and some time microstation just turns off with the beep sound. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

  • The problem may be too much data to create a PDF in a timely manner. Assuming you are using pdf.pltcfg to create these PDF files, try lowering the resolution in the pdf.pltcfg file to 300,300. Other things to try: Set the RGB Raster Compression to JPEG, turn off some of the features such as searchable text, etc., to see if you can get a PDF created. We can then go from there...

  • Thanks for your quick response Dawn. All image that I captured are in JPEG which I then replace with color image saved from Google Earth at the same time I captured image for Microsation. All image are about 1100 * 600 resolution the lowest one I could go in Google Earth. I used the one with 300*300 resolution pdf.pltcfg. Still does not create for the particular sheet I am working on. Could it be PDF-XChange I am using is not compatible? I am not using Adobe.- I have something called PDF-XChange on my computer which I use for creating PDF's. But most of the sheets works fine. Only few does not just work.
  • How is PDF-Xchange coming into play? You are capturing JPEG images and attaching in MicroStation, right? Then using pdf.pltcfg to create an output file? Have you tried lowering the Raster resolution in the pltcfg? Are you trying to create a 3D PDF? If so, do you have the same problem if you export from MicroStation to U3D?

  • PDF-Xchange is my default printer to print PDF's from microstation. I am not attaching google image in microstation per say. I am capturing google earth image from "geographic tool box" in Microstation. Image captured comes in exact location in Microstation. Then I used that Microstation 3d file with google image as a reference in my base file to create sheets. I am not attaching JPEG directly as a reference. Not sure if I made this clear. I am not trying to create 3D PDF. I do have pltcfg with both raster resolution 600*600 and 300*300. I tried both - does not work. I am not sure how to change that thou' I looked this info in Raster Options in Print window before printing. Thanks.
  • You should not use the PDF-Xchange Printer driver, Use the Bentley PDF Printer driver instead:
    --\WorkSpace\System\pltcfg\pdf.pltcfg
make copy for your needs, change it and use it
