print organiser

Hi

I'm having trouble applying styles to my file set of drawings in the print organiser.

I have about 40 drawings, and want to apply different print styles to some of those drawings. So I'll have about 20 with one print style, 10 with another, and 10 with a third print style.

However when I do that, the print style I had already applied to the first lot of drawings gets messed up. Is it impossible to apply different print styles to one file set of drawings?

  • The properties of each Fixed Print Definition can be different. However, changing the printer driver could change the paper size and other related settings in the entire pset. Only one .pltcfg can be defined for the .pset. Do your Print Styles change the printer driver configuration file?

  • I've kept the same printer driver for all print styles. The only change is the scale - I made one print style, copied it a few times and just changed the scale on each copy.
  • Which properties are changing in the print definitions the Print Style is not applied to?

Describe your workflow. Are you working with an existing pset or adding files to a new one and selecting different Print Styles?

Are you working with Fixed or Variable print definitions?

Send me the dgnlib containing the Print Styles in a private message if you’d like.

  • Several properties change, notably scale, paper size and colour/monochrome.

    My process is:
    File/add folder to set
File/add files to set (Selected some files)
File add folder to set (created a sub-folder for drawings at a different scale)
File/add files to set (added the additional drawings)
I did this for a few subfolders, then:
Tools/define print style (created a new print style, amended the properties - scale, size, fence, monochrome, printer driver)
Copied the style twice to create another 2 print styles, then amended the scale only in each, and saved.
Then selected the first folder files, and then :Tools/Apply print style to all those files
Then selected the second folder files, and then :Tools/Apply print style to all those files, and so on.
but after I made the second 'apply print style', I noticed some of the files in the first folder had some arbitrary changes,
and after the third 'apply print style', many more changes appeared in the first and second folders.

This is my first attempt at PSET printing by the way. I dont know what Fixed or Variable print definitions are, or where I can find the dgnlib.
  • Make sure none of your Print Styles are set as the Default (black checkmark)

    My test results are:

A Print Style applied to a higher folder in the hierarchy will change properties of print definitions in all sub-folders. However, when applying a Print Style to a sub-folder only the print definitions in the sub-folder should be affected. In the example below:

-A Print Style applied to the Untitled folder will affect all print definitions in all folders.

-A Print Style applied to the 2 folder will affect print definitions in the 2 and 3 (sub-folder under 2) folders.

-A Print Style applied to the 3 folder will affect print definitions in the 3 folder only.

-A Print Style applied to the 4 folder will affect print definitions in the 4 folder only.

  • Here's an image of the PSET folder arrangement.

The files that get messed up get random properties, not based on the new styles I'm applying to (the other) files.

  • For a test, remove the printer from each Print Style. It is not necessary when the printer is predefined in Print Organizer.

If the problem continues, send me your contact information in a private message, we’ll work the problem offline.
