Raster Options

Good morning,

Is there a way to save your print - raster options? I keep having to go...

File -> Print PDF -> Settings -> Raster Options and then changing the raster quality to 100.

I want to save the default to 100 instead of 50.

  • Hi Eric,

I agree with mwlong warning about output data size, to double the quality will produce substantially (I guess 4 times) bigger file.

Usually 50% quality is good enough, but it depends what type of rasters (binary, orthofoto...) and on what printer you print. I recommend to print a few samples using different quality factor and to decide what valua is "good enough".

    With regards,

Another setting to change that will make a huge difference is under the driver  properties

The Default compression is ZIPPED change this to JPEG and you'll get a really big difference and wont need to compress your pdfs externally anymore with

Acrobat PDF full version ( not reader) or some other pdf compressor tools...

I found this by trial and error and didnt  realise it would make such a huge difference especially  with rasters attached...

Ah yes, I forgot about that option. Depending on what that is set to your file will change size significantly. There is also a Resolution setting under the Advanced tab that will have affect on size.

    Eric:

Another setting you may want to check that will not affect file size but can cause problems if you use Masking in you .dgn file- disable the Enable Measuring under Driver Properties tab. If this is enabled and you have a lot of clip masking most likely you will not be able to create the pdf from the .dgn. I know this should be brought up in a different post but I just thought of it and it will help you avoid headaches later on.
