plot fence

good morning

it is possible, without using Print Organizer set up printing in pdf
with fence from files and the paper size set to the size of the fence?

grazie

Massimo

  • In a design model, there is no inherent print scale from which a paper size could be calculated.  You can define a print style -- either a default print style or one you manually apply -- which automatically sets the print area to a fence from the specified shape criteria (when run from the single-Print dialog, the first found shape is always used).  But unless otherwise specified in the print style, the print size will be maximized to the printer's default paper size.

Sheet models do include scale information.  They also define the print area, so the correct paper size can be calculated automatically without requiring a print style.  So the short answer is, print from sheet models, not design models.

  • Andrew, I am having trouble getting the single-Print Dialog to pull all the settings from the Print Style even when I apply the style.  So far I can only get it to apply the pen table, plot driver, paper size and the display settings.  It still won’t create the print area fence based on the parameters of selecting a shape based on a certain level.  Is there something I am missing when setting up the style or in applying the style?

  • Andrew,

Within CONNECT edition I am getting a similar problem to Darcy.

I have defined a fence to be used as the plot area within the print style. This is pointing to a shape within the border reference file using its level name. I have set this as the default print style. However it is not creating a fence within my design model.

Is there a known bug or some new config variable. In MS Select Series all works well.

    cheers
