Cannot plot in microstation SS3-Additional browser does not open after the print button is pressed

I have fenced in the border element and selected the plot configuration file as well as pen table. Once the print icon is pressed the additional browser does not display. I have checked all the views. Nothing opens or displays. I can print using the print organizer only. We have tested bentley and windows plot configuration files both specific to our projects and default files. None allows us to print. Has anyone ran into this issue? We are running microstation ss3 version 08.11.09.714 and geopak ss4 version 08.11.09.845.

Thanks

    Lorys,

Sorry for the confusion. I meant microstation does not allow anyone on the team to print. The dialog box does not open for anyone on the team. Only one project out of 5 can print without using the print organizer. Print organizer is great for printing out one plan set, but not ideal to print one sheet.

Is this a deliberate setting  by admin or do you mean our team is unable to print   due to this fault... again if its on purpose then this is idiocy by choice and a sledge  hammer to an crack ie  if your admin wants conformity of prints then set up pltcfgs and only allow  access to those you need with all the settings  prepopulated  ie pen tables , colour or B&W etc etc...

    try this  keyin

    mdl load plotdlg;print dialog

or try mdl load ( enter) then browse to find  plotdlg.ma

then keyins button  and choose print dialog (and enter )

This should bring back your print  dialog...

make sure you have popset on ( green ) and mover the print dialog to where you can see it , sometimes its just hiding behind other screens..

    Erik,

No one is allowed to print on our team. It is project wide. We thought it was our printer driver but we tried the default drivers which also do not work.

I'm sorry but that just sounds silly why  have  cad if you arent allowed to print... next they'll take away  your pencils and paper ....!

  • Is this happening on one system or multiple? If it is just one computer, then I can think of a few possible things that could bring back your Print dialog. First, it is possible that the dialog does populate but something has happened and it appears off-screen. It's happened to me before with MicroStation dialogs, so I would not be surprised if it happening again. To resolve this, follow the steps here: communities.bentley.com/.../15899.dialogtoolbox-does-not-open-or-is-missing.

If that does not work, and the dialog is actually not opening, you could first try repairing MicroStation through the Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall a Program. After that, I would try recreating your user preference file and hoping the issue was due to some corruption in the file (communities.bentley.com/.../8978). You could also attempt restoring MS to its factory defaults, which should bring back that printer dialog as a last resort (communities.bentley.com/.../restore-microstation-to-factory-defaults).

If this is happening on multiple machines, then the problem most likely lies in your printer driver and would be better answered by someone with a wider knowledge of plotting.

    Cheers,

    Erik M.
