Microstation Printing Slow 15-20s. SS3 Other programs print fine.

Microstation Printing takes 15-20 seconds. All other programs print fairly fast. Everyone else in our office has no issues with slow printing (2 seconds) with Microstation select series 3 (08.11.09.459). I believe had the same problem with SELECT series 2. We have 5 printers at work and one of the older printers hp8150a would print ok (5 seconds), but this one has broken down and the rest of the printers print very slow. Since it's just Microstation that prints slow, could this be an issue with printer drivers? I sent this to our IT several times with no reply, I imagine he does not know how to fix it. We are all on the same type of network, so not sure what is the problem.

I have a dell T1650 i5 system 64 bit, 8GB RAM, windows 7 and NVIDIA Quadro 600 video card.

thanks

  • I should mention one more thing I discovered. If I print to our old HP printer and then print that same drawing to any canon printer, the canon printer will also print fast. For as long as I am working on this drawing it will print fast from then on. But if I keep Microstation open but load a new drawing, now I am back to slow printing on the canon printers, unless I first do one print with the hp printer. Does this not sound like a printer driver issue? Thanks
  • sounds more like print spooling or print server issue...

is the  canon a wide format hpgl printer... or is it  postscript

are you windows assigned drivers to the  printer default  generic windows install or are they from the  printer manufacturer this can make a big difference...

these are  the  ones that after you made the pdf you send the pdf to printer by selection it ( it being the  driver for that printer)

After you made a pdf locally and then send it to plotter open the  plotter icon and see whats  going on  like counting  down etc  or spooling etc... talk to you IT guy....
