After changing a printer, text is printed as lo-res fax.

I changed from HP Designjet 4520 HPGL/2 to HP T7200 (using a HP T7100 driver).

While most prints come out fine, some user's prints have text printed as on a low-res fax document. Lines appear to be fine, if somewhat edgy. The logo is flawed also. It seems as if it's printed in 100dpi, instead of 300 or 600dpi. I have a RIP, and I can see that what comes into the RIP, is already flawed.

I suspect the user's setup, because it's a minority that has this problem. And using the PDF-printer, and then sending the file to the printer, works fine.

Any ideas where I might start to look?

go sit next to those with the  problem and watch them as the  set up to print, take careful note  and look to see if the have the  rasterize button ticked on if it is  then this is the main culprit..

Mst remembers print settings  so if they  used it once like that it remain ticked , untick it and  tell them never tick it again  and  if you want rasterization then only use the  bentley pdf driver not  windows printers... personally I never  use  windows printer direct from mstn.. and train all fellow users to do the  same  ..why?

Because today we dont  use paper for clients very much except long plots or roll plots we only send pdfs so you mays well get used to always making the  pdf  and  if you need paper  print that as its what the  client will most likely see so its best to print to mst to pdf and pdf to paper...
