I'm having trouble with printing. My "print" icon does not bring up the print window anymore.

When I hit the "print" icon", it  brings up the "Fence" window. (I already selected the fence.) I also tried the "print" under the "File" pull down menu; same problem. I can select "print preview"  and print a drawing using that window, but you can't format the print that way.

I hadn't used MicroStation V8i in about 6-8 weeks. I had no trouble printing before now.

Any ideas?

  • Hey, Eric. Marion at Bentley support got me going. For some reason, the “print” window was opening but was hidden somewhere. He had me go under the “Window” tab, and way down at the bottom (under View Toolbox) are all the windows that are open. The Print window was there; selecting it brought it back to where it could be seen. Now it seems to work like usual. Really weird, but now I think I’m good.

Thanks for getting back to me though.

Since   CC didnt share with  us how support  fixed his problem so those  of us with similar missing tools , got to menus bar >Settings> tool settings

if ticked  untick if not ticked then tick

Then go to the  main tools pallet and choose the power selector ( big black arrow)  and your  power selector should be back, choose the  copy icon from main tools and its  dialog box should also be  visible so now its all fixed again, try the  with control p.. if all is as it should be..

Now go find the  pop set  ball button on your main menus along the top it will either  be a green ball ( what we want it to be) or red ball, if red click it to make it green, now move your power selector pallet to where you always want it to pop up on the screen so now all your tools will pop there, dont close dialog boxes anymore when you finish with a tool just  choose the power selector or  go to your  preferences and enable Escape key to quit a tool.. then from now on just use the escape key instead to quit a tool over close a pallet tool...

This approach always works for when  things go missing ..
