I have recently took on the role as CADD Manager for a project in NYC that has been going since 2004 using V8 2004. I decided to upgrade to V8i and have upgraded the customization also. The only issue I have now is that the V8i printing appears to be much slower than V8.
Is there something I can do to speed up the printing process? I know the printing process has changed in V8i just not sure how to speed it up.
I am still using the old Batch Print as well which is really running slow in V8i. I made a comparison with the same group of drawings for both and the V8 batch process took half the time.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Frank
Hello Frank, here are my suggestions:1. Use Print Organizer instead of Batch Print2. Use a .pltcfg instead of a .plt. Here is a Wiki (https://communities.bentley.com/products/microstation/microstation_printing/w/wiki/13570/how-do-you-convert-a-plt-text-plot-driver-configuration-file-to-a-pltcfg-xml-file) on how to convert a .plt to .pltcfg. If that does not help try the delivered version of the .pltcfg.3. Make sure not to enable the "Rasterized" option when printing unless is required to get transparency on output.4. If using raster files, look at the "Raster Quality factor" being used. This value sets the percentage of the printer's resolution that is used when printing raster attachments. A value of 50 means that raster attachments are scaled to 300 DPI when printing to a 600 DPI printer. Lower quality settings print faster and generate smaller plot files. Higher quality settings print slower and create larger plot files.
I hope this helps.
Thanks Ed - great information!
