print organizer hangs

Hello. This may be an obvious question or not but i have not been able to find a solution to my problem.

I can batch print using print organizer no problem using a client's profile. But when I start from a new user profile, and i try to add files. The process engine starts but then just hangs.

eventually giving me this message. Ideally i am trying to set the parameter of printing by element and selecting my tittleblock to a level "tittleblock" but this does not seem to have an effect.

any insights?

  • Hi MaryB,

Thank you very much for your reply! The driver file is already pre selected. But the error message is pointing to a file or drive (X:) I don't have either that folder or folder path in my computer. Not sure why it is trying to find anything there.

If i use another client's profile it autoloads the User workspace and Project workspace which i imagine contains the config files that set it up.

  • I don't know where that X: drive file is being pathed from, but it could be a few different places. It may be coming from a configuration file that isn't part of your client workspace, but is part of your other workspace. You may need to dig through some configuration variables to locate and correct it.

While I'm not sure, it could also be written into your (non-client) print style. I believe you can check that by opening the DGNLIB that holds those print styles and looking at the settings there.

I apologize - it's been a couple of years since I had to set anything like that up, and my recall is a bit fuzzy. You're right - that X: drive file is part of the problem, but I don't remember the exact steps to track it down. Hopefully someone who does this sort of thing regularly will chime in.

By the way, which product(s) are you using? Version numbers can help folks narrow down what the problem might be.

  • Yeah, thanks anyway. I am having a hard time configuring this new client's printer driver because of that. I am using V 08.11.09.459

  • Hey, so i tried with another client's profile. The same error shows up but It lets me add files and print! arggh!

When i do it from a new profile. All it does is, it starts the process engine, then hangs a bit then kicks me out to the Open File prompt (picture). Any ideas?

  • We can be pretty sure the issue is with your profile. I would suggest you edit your .cfg file and start commenting out one line at a time until you find the culprit.

Regarding the issue where you cannot find your .plt. You are loading a default print style from a .dgnlib file. If not sure which .dgnlib file you are using, add a file to Print Organizer and in the "Create Print Definitions" UI, click on the magnifying lens on the right side of "Print style name:" field, the resulting UI will show the name of file or files in which the Print Styles reside. Open the .dgnlib file in PowerDraft, open Print Organizer. Select Tools->Define Print Styles. Select your default Print Style (indicated by check mark). Now select the "Printer" tab. The "Printer driver configuration file:" field should reflect the path it cannot find for 11x17_bw_grey.plt". Change as necessary.
