Print Organizer Won't Print In Color

Hi,

I edited my pen table to print Color 36 as an RGB color. If I use File>Print it plots in color like I want it to. If I use print organizer, assign the same pen table, it prints black. I'm sure I am overlooking some setting. What is it?

thanks

  • What print driver are you using for each? Are they the same? Are you sure you are loading the same pen table for both? Is there a different pen table defined in the plot driver that may be overriding the when defined by PO or vice versa?

We need to know what version of Microstation you are using and whether you use .plt or .pltcfg print drivers

As far as I can tell I'm using the exact same pentable and pltcfg table for each method of plotting.

I do not see a place to set the pentable in the plot driver (File>Print, File>Edit printer driver configuration). In the main File>Print dialog I see where to set the pentable and it is the one I want.

In print organizer if I look at the properties of a sheet it is using the same pen table as regular plotting.

I'm plotting sheets, but if i plot from a fence in the design file it plots colors. If I plot one sheet from the sheet file using File>Print it plots colors. If i plot from print organizer it plots black.

  • I'm not sure. It must have defaulted to !Water since that is the project I opened with? We are a city, so each agency has its own particular standards. !Water is water utility related.

I am trying different workspace configuration variables, like MS_PLT_ENGINE_CMDLINE_ARGS and MS_SYMBRSC. so far no joy, too many variables to check for an ignoramous like me, so I am going to export the workspace configuration from a working machine and try the .ucf on the new install.

thanks for the assistance. if I solve it I will let you know what worked.

  • It should not default to anything unless there is some sort of configuration variable is able to control that. I would just switch the Workspace drop down to be blank and try printing. If the issue still persists then you need to check if a pen table is being loaded or if a different .pltcfg file is the cause.

  • thank you. I will look at that. that screen capture was from a working machine, though - we are trying to use the exact same print style file from the machine that works, and the one that doesn't. maybe the other is *not* using !Water.

Copying the ucf from a working machine to the new install didn't work. in fact ...

setting MS_PLT_ENGINE_CMDLINE_ARGS and MS_SYMBRSC to networked standards files changed the erroneous line from the (bad) custom linestyle to linestyle 0. copying the entire ucf changed it back to plotting the wrong custom line.

I'm sure it is something simple, just wish I knew what.

  • oh, like with the plotting in color, the same pen table and pltcfg files are being used in both printing environments, best as I can tell. I will verify.

  • Try running the keyin "delete unused linestyles". If there are any line styles that are part of the actual file with the same name as one in a line style library it can change the appearance of a line style.
