Good morning,
I have several sheets to print to PDF for a site project with the PDF sheet size being 24x36. The ten sheets end up being a bit over 25 MB and flipping from one sheet to the other seems to lag a bit. There are no rasters in the files, but there are several reference files, including nested references, and a mix of DGNs and DWGs. Some of these references contain what I call "smart" elements (elements used for OpenRoads modeling purposes), but the display of these elements are turned off. I have attached one of the sheets as a typical example of one of the sheets. I have also attached the plot driver for reference.
Anyone have any ideas on how to make the PDF file size smaller and then hopefully easier to work with (scrolling sheet to sheet in the set)?
Thanks,Ken

Hi Ken,

You should edit your PDF driver and go to:
Driver Properties\Precision - Standard and not more than that;
Advanced\Driver Resolution - 96;
You didn't speak about levels. Your PDF has them, if not needed you can turn them off, that helps.
If not needed you can turn off Searchable text.
Sometimes files have some element that cause the output file larger than it should. Normaly 3d elements with visible edges. Don't seems the case in your provided sample file. Sometimes are elements from DWG that provoque this. If possible run a purge inside DWG files, and do a compress in all your DGN files.
Hope this helps and regards
José
Thanks for the quick reply. I will step through each of these suggestions and figure what works.
Thanks!
I've tried the precision and resolution with no change. I'm trying to get the level functionality to turn off, but it doesn't seem to work. I've edited the driver to turn off Optional Content, reloaded the driver, recreate the PDF, and it still shows the levels. Am I doing something wrong? I feel like I am missing something, but can't tell what it is.
Take a look at this:

It may help.

CE Update 7 - Version 10.07.00.39
Update: I turned off the patterns and it somewhat helped the file size reducing it from 2.2MB to 1.7MB. Is it just related to the fact that there are so many elements in this area? I can select all the elements within the sheet view and there are about 10K.
