I have a plotter on a server. In some dialog boxes, its shown as \\servername\plottername while in others its shown as plottername on servername
I have tried defining MS_PLT_SYSPRT_DEFAULT_PRINTER using both syntax's and neither works. What is the proper way to define this variable?
The silence is deafening. So, I figured it out myself.
The \\servername\printername syntax is close, but there is a problem: CFG files prefer / over \. Ordinarily, since there is no MicroStation cross platform support (no Mac or Unix versions) there is no downside to using \ instead of /.
When using a UNC path in a CFG file, you must use / instead of \, as the \\ in front of the servername gets truncated to a single \. I suppose that it might be possible to use \\\\ instead of //, but I did not test this.
So while \\servername\printername does not work, //servername/printername does.
Enjoy.
