I am using MicroStation V8i.
One issue I have come across from time to time is that I have drawings that do not want to "fit" to the paper and thus not print to scale properly. (See the image.)
I have checked for hidden elements or levels that would be outside my print boundary. There are no references or raster images associated with this DGN file. I have also checked that my lower left corner is at the absolute 0,0.
This is not a persistent issue with all files. This just happens with certain files. (Out of a set of 63 drawings, it happened with only two of them.)
If I do Place Fence, type Element, and then select my boundary element, then it will fit to the page and center properly.
The reason this is an issue is that I use ProjectWise InterPlot and process large number of drawings at a time. It would be nice to correct whatever is causing this issue so that things are easier to process in any future changes.
Is there some variable or setting I am missing that would cause this issue? If so, how would I go about resetting this?
I don't know with pwise but this works in my v8i set up
go to workspace> config
Printing>automatically fit view
I have it set to 1
so I all I do is control p and it automatically sets a fence around the area that fits the extents of any and allobjects etc and my title block boundary is all that there is nothing outside it places the fence and auto fits and is ready to plot my favorite default printer driver ( usually PDF)...
Note I always make sure I delete anything outside the title block area in my drg so that this always works... for batch prints it dont use this it looks for the named boundary around the title block.. so best of both worlds
Explantion below is straight out of the Workspace config panel
If MS_PLT_AUTO_FIT_VIEW is set to '1' or '2', the print dialog automatically sets the print area mode to 'Fence' when first invoked. A value of '1' constructs a fence that encompasses all the elements in the master file. A value of '2' constructs a fence that encompasses all the elements in the master file and all its references. If an active fence or sheet is defined when the print dialog is invoked, this configuration variable is ignored.
