Good Morning,
MicroStation V8i SS4 08.11.09.829 (MicroStation CONNECT 10.12.00.40)
Plotter: OCE PlotWave 750
I need some help to improve the quality of the grid lines that we have on our Profile and Cross Section sheets. These lines have the following symbology:
Level “Major”, color = 14, linestyle = 0, weight = 3
Level “MINOR”, color = 14, linestyle = 0, weight = 1
If I were to print the attached dgn “!JUNK_Profile” and use the attached pltcfg file “OCEPW750-1_HQ_rm312_half” with the associated pentable “!PENTABLE” I get a print that looks like attached pdf file “Printer output_from MSTA”. If I create a pdf from the same dgn and use the pltcfg file “pdf_half.pltcfg” I still get an undesirable product (it uses the same pentable). The two printouts, one directly from MicroStation and the other from MicroStation to pdf then to the plotter are different but the problem is the same, they both are missing some lines on the MINOR Level just in different places. Is there some setting in MicroStation that I need to manipulate in order to produce prints displaying consistent lines on the MINOR level?
I have also tried plotting from MicroStation CONNECT with the same results.
Thank You for your time,
4111.!JUNK_Profile.dgn
OCEPW750-1_HQ_rm312_half.pltcfg
pdf_half.pltcfg
!pentable.tbl
can you merge your profile ref or provide copy of the profile ref.. and re add to upload cant test with just title block haha...
You say above LT=0, but your prints look more like 1 or 5, nothing in pentable I cant see anything to change this unless you have overrides on or in level manager and view attributes...
OCE pltcfg has 1016 dpi driver and your pdf.pltg has 600dpi
your oce rollplotter driver to printed direct to paper has higher resolution should be awesome compared to the pdf to plotter
But then you print to half scale which has a 50% shrink effect on the line weights.... ( what happens if you print to full size instead?)
Also the pdfs you provided are scans to pdf for a richo laser so resolution becomes compromised and I cant really do a good view comparison...both pdfs look pretty much the same on screen even zoomed in...so the faint ness maybe a process of the scanner or light leakage...
Pentable looks ok nothing strange .. not sure about show construction lines as white... I use don't print construction lines and I also put construction lines on named level with nonprint option in level manager to be sure to be sure .. but that's just me...

Morning Lorys,
I replaced the "!JUNK_Profile.dgn" so there is no "missing stuff".
Thanks,
from what I can tell you have a custom linestyle 0 which used to be normal solid line and you replaced it with a small dashed one.. so I cant reproduce what you have, I don't think your supposed to edit the default lines from 0-8 provided by Bentley as they don't scale etc you probably should have made a new linestyle with a name rather than 0.. what happens if you were to use number 2 short dashes...
in anycase I don't get missing linework when I make the pdf with my pdf but weight 1 and 3 are a bit too thick for me..
when I open the level manger it shows red zero for linestyle which means its not found and under properties it show a dashed preview.. I think this may be your main problem...
Try using different standard line styles and see how you fair with an override for the linestyle
see 0 looks dashed should be solid
in your drg when draw a line with LT=0 it looks like my linestye for 0 ie solid
Good Morning Lorys,
Thanks for looking into this. I will take a look.
Have a Good weekend,
any progress
Thanks for the suggestion but no there was no affect to the Grayscale issue when I changed the linestyles to default set.
Thanks for the suggestion and sorry about the delay in getting back in touch.
