Our firm is transitioning to Connect editions of Microstation and OpenRoads Designer.
Does Bentley have a preferred methodology for how users should configure their printing environments in CONNECT?
There are Windows Printers and Bentley Printer Drivers
Psets and Pltcfgs
Print Styles & Pen Tables.
Should I just use the Print Organizer for everything?
Is there any value to organizing print settings in a dgnlib in my Organization, Workspace & workset Settings.
My end goal is to simplify our printing environment in CONNECT by creating a custom toolbar with print configurations preset Our user base does not all print with the same settings.
Just curious what others have done to rein in users. We've had several Cad Managers who have set up printing configurations "half-way" which has led to pandemonium.
Thanks,
I'm not on CONNECT yet, but even in V8i, I prefer to have "site-wide" (or at least "client-wide" or "department-wide") printing setups. The more variables I can take out of the users' hands, the more consistently prints come out, and the easier they are to troubleshoot when things don't work. I also encourage the use of Print Organizer - since print settings can be set up in a centralized location, it makes printing just about automatic. There are a few things about Print Organizer that bug me, but overall, it's not a bad interface once the print settings are set up for everyone.
