Plotting from MicroStation to a Canon TX3000

Hi

Can anybody advise whether it's possible to set up MicroStation to allow dgn files to plot through a Canon imagePROGRAF TX-3000

  • Should be. Many of us find it much easier to use a standard format like PDF, then send that to the appropriate Windows printer. To go straight to the Canon use printer.pltcfg, select the appropriate Windows printer, set it's preferences and go.

  • We run a TX3000 and a TX4000. Works OK. Make a new pltcfg for your needs and go.

    • Copy the Windowsprinter.pltcfg and edit this (From the print dialog go to File>Edit Printer Driver Configuration).
    • In the Windows Printer Section change the Default Windows Printer Name to the name and server of your Canon machine. For instance \\plotterserver\TX-4000.
    • Save the pltcfg file.
    • Put it in a location where MS_PLTCFG_PATH points to.

When using transparency in a dgn, you should remember to check the Rasterized option in the print dialog or else it won't recognise transparency. Rasterizing is pretty time consuming so you're faster going through pdf.
