Printing custom line styles with Print Organizer

We utilize custom line styles in our workspace i.e. a "w" inserted in a line for waterline. When we print this sheet using the standard print option and our pdf plt driver, it shows up correctly. I am new to Print Organizer so hang in there with me. I have put our pdf plt driver as the Printer driver configuration file. I don't know if this is correct or not. The bottom line is I am not able to see our custom line style when I use the Print Organizer. Any help would be most appreciated.

  • Are you running ustation.exe with customized command-line arguments, or using another technique to run MicroStation in a non-standard manner?

Can you explain this in further detail? In customized do you mean a customized project config etc? We are running custom configs.
  • It's not clear what issues you are referring to.

GEOPak has addressed their issues running in non-graphics mode.  For more information on that, you should talk to GeoPAK support.

Print Organizer will support custom ustation.exe command-line arguments in the upcoming SELECT release.

  • Andrew,

    All of the issues,

I am currently dealing with plotting issues in XM, these issues also involve custom linestyles, and fonts that do not plot or display correctly. I have contacted support with these issues and I was told that they would be addressed in V8i.  These issues have sometimes caused me to fall back to V8 in order to plot a project correctly.

Reading this thread, It appears that we have even more issues with Print Organizer because it is not using our Project workspace resources.

If print Organizer is going to be the replacement for batch plot, One  would assume that it would work as well if not better than batch plot.and that it would utilize our project workspaces the way batch plot does. in addition we rely on Inroads and Geopak along with  several other Bentley programs to meet our deadlines, therefore these issues can impact any upgrades that we can make to V8i.

  • Any of these issues fixed in the SS1 release?

Workspace resources not recognized when using Command line switch,

Font display, some Microstation fonts appear broken when plotted.

Custom Line styles not printing correctly when line segments are changed to complex chain.

  • Do you happen to have the trouble report (TR) numbers?  I could give you more accurate status if you happen to have the number.  Otherwise, I am familiar with fixes that we made in the first two areas you mention. I am not familiar with the third issue.  If you don't have the TR number,  please download MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 1) and confirm it with one of your files.

  • Hi Jeff,

The TR for the Font issue is 8000493285, this issue goes back as far XM.

My TR for the Linestyle issue was related to and older TR192355, (Support via Larry Abla)

I did not file a TR for the workspace isssue since it was discovered by others here in this post.

I am currently waiting for the SS1 release of Inroads before I install the SS1 release of Microstation.

  • The solution we found was to make Geopak and similar applications to only load when a drawing is opened. We changed MS_DGNAPPS to _USTN_FIRSTDGNAPPS in the geopak.cfg.

Geopak will still open and Print Organizer will work on the same machine.

    [MAIN]
    %if !defined (GPK_START)
    # MS_DGNAPPS < $(SUITE_INSTALLDIR)bin/gpkstart.ma #Comment out this line
    _USTN_FIRSTDGNAPPS < gpkstart.ma #Add this line

    MS_LIBRARY_PATH < $(SUITE_INSTALLDIR)bin/
