Printing custom line styles with Print Organizer

We utilize custom line styles in our workspace i.e. a "w" inserted in a line for waterline. When we print this sheet using the standard print option and our pdf plt driver, it shows up correctly. I am new to Print Organizer so hang in there with me. I have put our pdf plt driver as the Printer driver configuration file. I don't know if this is correct or not. The bottom line is I am not able to see our custom line style when I use the Print Organizer. Any help would be most appreciated.

  • Andrew Edge:
Are you running ustation.exe with customized command-line arguments, or using another technique to run MicroStation in a non-standard manner?
Can you explain this in further detail? In customized do you mean a customized project config etc? We are running custom configs.
  • Examine how you invoke ustation.exe.  This could be from a custom shortcut on your desktop, a modified shortcut under the Start menu, a script file, or some other technique.  Some site administrators modify the command-line arguments of ustation.exe to specify a different workspace root or a non-standard mslocal.cfg.  Print Organizer in 8.11.5 does not support that type of customization; it will be added in the upcoming SELECT release.

Print Organizer in 8.11.5 does support custom project & user workspaces, as long as they are located in the default locations.

It would also be helpful to know if the custom line styles show up correctly in Print Organizer preview (versus the PDF you created from Print Organizer).

  • I have re-installed MS and have not customized any of the config files. I now have been getting the errors in the attached. I don't know why that is happening. When Print Organizer was working, it did NOT correctly show the custom line styles in the preview.
  • Some vertical applications, i.e. GeoPAK & perhaps InRoads, have known compatibility problems with Print Organizer.  I can't speak directly to that -- you would need to talk to the support team for that application.  But I suspect you now have a vertical application loaded that was not loaded before.

  • It is my understanding that Print Organizer will pull the custom line style through the dgnlib for that particular file. When that line style is placed in a design file, and I use Print Organizer (PO), does PO need the workspace name placed in the Define Print Styles setup or is that resident in the design file?
