Hello,
I recently upgraded to Microstation V8i SS10 and ran into a problem with plotting a dgn to pdf.
Th dgn contains an aerial photo (attached as wms)
When plotting Microstations hangs.
I closed and opened the dgn again and checked the printer driver configuration file.
There I did see that the driver resolution untis were set to mm instead of dots.
When I change the resolution units to dots and then save the file an error pops up saying "The current printer driver configuration is not valid. The value of property 'Resolution units' cannot be '7' "
I also tried the pdf configuration file delivered with the installation and also using a text editor to change the resolution units but every time the same error pops up.
Does anyone know a soluiton to this problem so I can print the dgn with the aerial photo?
Greetings
Johan
I have a temporary workaround while I look for a better solution ... in the print setting there is a slider for the raster resolution lower the default setting but write down the default value as my microstation remembers and leaves it at the new value for next time....
I'm still using my old printerPDF.pltcfg from V8iss4 but I'm using ss10 so I haven't tried changing anthing as I already had made so lower res versions... but I will look at this at work next week.... I'm using home pc not work pc...and its still sunday here in Oz..

Hello Lorys,
did you already had time to get a look why the printer driver resolution units cannot be set to dots anymore?
When I upgraded to SS10 I copied the pltcfg files from SS4 and used these without changing the settings.
The workaround by lowering raster solution doesn't work when the driver resolution is set to mm. Plotting to pdf still uses an endless amount of time.
I now use inch as printer driver resolution to keep things working
my work is all in meters or mm but printer is set for DPI dots per inch
Raster quality is a number 1-100 ( blue cloud mine set at 33.33) yellow highlight driver resolution is in my case 600,600 dots per inch I always have left this in dots per inch as printer docs and specs are always mentioned as Dots per inch and if want higher or lower I do a save DPI_A number_ PDF.pltcfg I edit the no of dots through pulldown and use both numbers the same ie 300, 300 or 150,150 or even 450,450 I believe those numbers relate mostly to linework and text the quality factor is what effects the raster more... also I don't use zip compression I use jpeg which in combination seems to make more difference in file sizes try stepping down the raster quality in say steps of 10, I started at what seemed the default 33.33 try my initial settings and then make copies and make changes and try printing once you have the optimum.. name it appropriately and blow away all the other trial versions.
