Even though you have full admin rights you are trying to edit a file in a Windows protected folder which isn't allowed. Try editing a text file in the same folder in Notepad and you'll get the same result. You can delete those protected files, and copy new versions of the files to overwrite them, but you cannot edit them directly.

Take Mary's advice.

Copy the pdf.pltcfg file to a different folder outside of C:\Program Files. You can then attach this copied version and MicroStation and make all of the edits you want.

The other reason to make a copy before you edit the file is for your protection. If you mess up editing the original, there's no original to go back to to start over.

I don't know why the file would be read-only aside from user permissions, so I am stumped there. I'd still make a copy to a known "write" location to work with.

Hi! I am solo here in my office with new computer and administrator rights, so it's not my computer. I suspect it's MicroStation PowerDraft CONNECT select Edition, which requires I be connected to the internet to draw. I am not happy with that....another story.

Did you have any ideas about my other questions above? Thanks!

If things are "read-only", it's possible that they are stored in locations you do not have permissions for.

Try making a copy of your pdf.pltcfg to a location you KNOW you have access to (like your Documents folder). See if you can edit that copy, and use that. If so, it's definitely a Windows permissions issue, not a MicroStation problem.
